Ep 35: Andrew Johnson – How to Run a Successful Family Business

Season #1 Episode #35

Family businesses are either great or terrible and it's rarely anything in between. Today’s guest has an amazing story of their family business to tell you about, and he believes, “It's 100% achievable.” With his three brothers-in-law, he just sort of lucked into a nice bunch of people within his firm to work together and drive their business to new heights.

Andrew Johnson is the CEO of ShelfAware and a supply chain innovator. ShelfAware grew out of his family's industrial firm, O-ring Sales & Service, Inc., and today delivers an RFID-powered system that allows wireless traceability to a manufacturer's inventory. He also enjoys speaking, educating, and podcasting on themes related to business innovation using technology. When he's not talking to suppliers and customers, he likes to go fishing, hunting, and hiking.

In this episode of The Liquid Lunch Project, Andrew talks with Matthew and Luigi about their planning process and the hard work that led to their enormous success in business. He also discusses what ShelfAware has to offer. Andrew goes into detail on how disruptive technology, namely RFID and the Internet of Things, has changed the landscape of his little business, allowing them to compete on a level they could never have anticipated. If you’re listening to this podcast, you’ll surely come away with actionable ideas for your own business operations. Keep an eye out for all of the nuggets of information.
